Culture and History

The Dolmen de Cayssac 1 in Les Roques, La Loubière, is a Neolithic dolmen. It was classified as a historic monument by decree of 20 July 1989.

Cayssac is also home to the 15th-century Saint Pierre church, which has a comb bell tower. The Romanesque Fontaine de Cayssac is also located in La Loubière.

The Causse Comtal is characterised by numerous dry-stone walls and cazelles. These once served as temporary shelters for shepherds. The Chemin des cazelles passes through Ortholès, with its beautiful houses and a 16th-century tower.

Nature

La Loubière's three discovery trails are marked and equipped with information panels. Along the trails, the panels provide information about fauna, flora and geology.

The village of La Loubière lies on a small rocky promontory that protects the houses from severe flooding of the Aveyron.

Paths and Landscape

The Chemin des cazelles is a 7.5 km-long, easy hiking trail with yellow markings.

The Chemin des fontaines is 10 km long and is also designated as an easy hiking trail; it has a cumulative positive elevation gain of 120 m.

Les berges de l'Aveyron is an 8.5 km-long, easy route. The Trail d'Aqui – Route No. 11 La Loubière is a trail route in La Loubière.

The Sébazac par la crête et le causse trail offers views of the piton Ruthénois, the cathedral to the south and the Monts d'Aubrac to the north. Its car park is located at La Loubière town hall in Lioujas.
