The Causse de L'Hospitalet is a geological unit covering around 200 km², with a ruiniform relief on an extensive, flat surface. L'Hospitalet, the only village on the Causses with a spring-fed fountain, is located in this landscape: due to the geological peculiarity of the Carron Fault, the water rises upwards.

Geographical location
There is a bus stop for route 681 between Millau and Montpellier on the national road in L'Hospitalet. It is served by four buses per day.
Culture and history
The Centre Archéologique Frédéric Hermet features an archaeological exhibition on the Gallo-Roman and medieval history of the Larzac. The visit can be followed by a free walk to discover the Roman road.
The Church of Sainte-Madeleine was built in 1764 to replace the former chapel of the fort. Inside, there is an 18th-century wooden statue of the Virgin and Child. The choir frescoes, created during the Second World War, depict L'Hospitalet as well as the hamlets of Rouquet and Mas Trinquier.
Nature and trails
The hiking route “De L'Hospitalet à Ste-Eulalie via La Cavalerie” passes through the Bois de Carron and by the small Chapelle St-Amans. It also runs along the Mare du Lavagnol, a lavogne.
Another route, “De l'Hospitalet-du-Larzac au Viala-du-Pas-de-Jaux à pied”, first descends into a valley and then climbs back up to the plateau.
The circular route “Circuit 4: Le causse du Larzac” is also among the trails described. It follows the D809, the former RN9, past the airfield to L'Hospitalet-du-Larzac, where it leads to a fountain and the archaeological centre.
Other places
The Piscine de L'Hospitalet-du-Larzac has a paddling pool for small children and a large pool for swimming and playing in the water.
