Culture

The church in Connac has a Romanesque bell tower. Its façade features a corbel; it also has a Gothic choir and Gothic chapels with heraldic keystones. The building thus brings together several clearly recognisable architectural elements in one place.

Contemporary art was also present in Connac: at L’Atelier Bleu, the exhibition “De tout pour faire un monde” was on display from 21 September to 31 October. It featured ceramics, wooden sculptures, assemblages of objects, pastels, watercolours, ink works and engravings.

Landscape and trails

The GR736 long-distance footpath passes through Connac. It initially follows the meanders of the Tarn along the right bank, then leads through the ridges and valleys of the Ségala. Connac offers beautiful views over the valley.

A shorter option is described by the “Connac – Les Rives du Tarn” route: it is an easy hike of around three hours. The “Connac – Les Rives du Tarn” hiking trail leads to Lavabre, where restored traditional houses overlook the valley.

By the Tarn

The Pont de Girbe picnic area in Connac is shaded, is located near the Tarn and lies along the GR736.

On the water, the canoeing route from Broquiès to the Connac-Aire offers 7 and 14 km options. It runs through the Tarn valley in the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park.
