Brommat: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the villages of the municipality of Brommat, the local architecture primarily uses basalt, as well as slate, granite and river sand. The long, steep roofs are covered with lava slate and feature several dormer windows.

The “Le vallon de Brommat” hike leads through forests and pastureland, with views over the wild Bromme Valley and the Brommat Valley.

Culture and History

Brommat’s first hydroelectric power plant was built in Le Brézou and inaugurated in 1933. The underground hall, residential buildings and church of Le Brézou are Art Deco structures.

The church of Brommat dates from the late 15th century and replaced an older Romanesque church. Sculptures of masks, figures and representations decorate the interior and exterior of the bases of its Gothic arches. Near the church, a fortified house with a trapezoidal tower and openings dating from the 15th century has been preserved.

The Musée Le Moulin de Burée combines an 18th-century mill with a milling facility that remained in operation until the 1980s. The museum offers guided tours by prior reservation at 06 30 96 34 87.

In summer, the Sarrans hydroelectric power plant offers guided tours of its interior, with reservations mandatory; the tours last one and a half hours.

Water and Activities

Brommat’s heated municipal swimming pool has an adult pool and a children’s pool with a slide. The municipal swimming pool also offers swimming lessons.

NATURA has more than 1,000 square metres of facilities including balneotherapy, a sauna, hammam, hot tub, hydromassage jets and a counter-current pool. The activities on offer include aquabiking, baby swimming and group classes such as Pilates, yoga, postural ball and fitness. NATURA also offers water-based activities, strength training, squash and yoga in Brommat.
