Saurat: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The GRP Tour du massif des Trois Seigneurs long-distance hiking trail passes through Saurat. The municipality stretches from east to west between Calamès and the Col de Port.
Anyone choosing Saurat as a holiday destination will want to rent a holiday apartment.
Nature
Cap de la Dosse reaches 1,948 metres and borders Pic de La Journalade, which is 1,941 metres high. Rising above the village of Saurat is Rocher de Carlong, a suspended, almost round rock with a diameter of around ten metres.
Grotte de Siech has 6,000 metres of galleries, which are popular with cavers. The family underground hike „Grotte de Saurat – Vertikarst“ is an introductory route into caving and features stalactite and stalagmite formations, erosion patterns in polished marble, and bones of cave bears around 30,000 years old.
Hiking
The „Du buis au chêne“ circular trail is an easy hike covering 5.3 kilometres, with a walking time of around two hours and 250 metres of elevation gain.
Another easy hike is the „Autour de Montorgueil“ circular trail: it is 4.9 kilometres long, takes around one and a half hours, and includes 304 metres of elevation gain.
The „De Saurat à Prat Communal“ route passes the site of the former forges of Esquérannes.
Culture and Tradition
The Church of Saint Blaise in Prat Communal was built between 1866 and 1870. A fresco created by Van Vanzelle in 1971 is part of the artistic heritage of the municipality of Saurat.
Saurat’s arts and crafts market features local producers and a lunch with a Portuguese menu that references the region’s culinary traditions.
Saurat is now known for producing natural whetstones.
