History
The present-day Château de Queille is privately owned. The land of Queille dates back to 957. The present-day Château de Queille is the result of several reconstructions based on a 16th-century foundation.
The Catalan forge of Queille has existed since 1697. The castrum of Queille became an essential stop on the way to Montségur because of its lords’ close ties to Catharism.
Water and Crafts
A grain mill on the Countirou dates back to the 16th century. At the end of the 19th century, Saint-Quentin-la-Tour had three grain mills supplied by the Countirou.
The forge of Queille was supplied with water through a canal fed by the Touyre.
