Culture

The Église Saint-Hilaire stands at the crossroads of the road to the Col de Portet d’Aspet. Its interior is completely decorated with ornamental paintings.

The Monument aux morts de Saint-Lary was inaugurated on 1 November 1920; in 2005, it was relocated and renovated.

The Saint-Lary spring fair takes place every first weekend in May and includes stalls operated by local craftspeople.

Hiking

The Sentier de découverte de Haute Bellongue is a signposted hiking trail with 390 metres of elevation gain and an average round-trip hiking time of four hours.

The route to the Col de Piejau via the hamlets of Saint-Lary is a challenging circular hike. It passes through meadows and the state-owned beech forest of Couhos to a forest hut.

A pilgrimage trail leads from Saint-Lary to the Col de la Hourque, via Escarchein and onwards to Portet.

The route to the Pic de la Calabasse offers views of the high peaks of Ariège, Haute-Garonne and Hautes-Pyrénées and crosses various ecosystems of the Pyrenees. Access for climbing the Pic de la Calabasse is from the village of St-Lary via the D57 and D157 to the car park at the end of the road.

The Calabas Trail, held on the last weekend of September, offers two races and a hike.

Landscape

The nearby peaks of Saint-Lary include Sommet de Cournudère, Tuc de Tucol, Cap de Mourens and Cap des Teches.
