The Église Saint-Michel in Montaut dates from the 15th century. It houses a cylinder organ that is one of Montaut’s protected objects. The Notre-Dame des Ermites Chapel in the Église Saint-Michel houses the relics of Saint Eudoce, who is described as a Roman centurion and martyr; they are kept in a glass reliquary.
The Domaine de Peyroutet-Vadier comprises a manor house, a dovecote, farm buildings, the estate manager’s house, a brick-built bread oven and a park laid out in the 18th century. The Domaine de Peyroutet-Vadier is a 17th-century manor house and a memorial site commemorating Marc-Guillaume Alexis Vadier, who is described as the creator of the Ariège département. By decree of 1 April 1993, the estate was registered as a historic monument; it is privately owned.
The Château de Montaut is mentioned as early as 1121.
To reach the Domaine de Montaut from Toulouse, take the A61 and then the A66, exit 2 “Saverdun / Mazères”, and continue via Saverdun to Montaut.
