Mirepoix preserves its original medieval structure around its central square. The square features 15th-century arcades and half-timbered houses with wooden galleries.

The Porte d’Aval is the only surviving remnant of the fortified town of Mirepoix from the 14th century and is classified as a Monument historique. The former Saint-Maurice Cathedral has been classified as a Monument historique since 1907. The bell tower of Saint-Maurice Cathedral in Mirepoix is 60 metres high. The Maison des Consuls in Mirepoix features 104 sculptures.

Mirepoix’s Thursday market is reserved exclusively for producers and food businesses. Fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and products from butchers are offered beneath and around the market hall.

The Chemin de Besset is a family-friendly circular hike from Mirepoix to the village of Besset along a hilly route. The greenway between Mirepoix and Lavelanet is open to all non-motorised forms of transport.

The historic Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Beaulieu is located in the immediate vicinity of Mirepoix. The ruins of Château de Lafage are located near Mirepoix.
