Nature

Trimouns is located at an altitude of 1,700 m above the village of Luzenac and is the largest operating open-pit talc mine in the world. Guided tours take visitors by coach into the active open-pit mine; during the guided tour of the Trimouns mine, the geological properties of the talc deposit are explained.

Trails

La Camina passes through Luzenac and connects Les Cabannes with Orlu (Forges). It is accessible to pedestrians, mountain bikers and horse riders. The route is 28 km long, or 31 km including the loop near Savignac and 35 km including the access paths to the railway stations.

Culture

Talcaneô is a 400 m² immersive museum space in Luzenac dedicated to talc and the industrial history built around it. The exhibition presents the journey of talc from extraction to processing through visual displays and games. In a dedicated area, a 180-degree screen follows the journey of talc from extraction until it arrives in a household.

The Église de Saint Martin is located at 2, rue de l'Église, 09250 Luzenac. It is a historic site and part of the ecclesiastical heritage, but it is not wheelchair accessible.

The Luzenac-Garanou railway stop offers regular direct connections all year round. The Médiathèque Luzenac offers holidaymakers and spa guests free membership.

Traditions

The traditional transhumance of the Mérens horses in Luzenac is organised by the Luzenac festival committee and the local pastoral group. The programme includes the annual Trophée Raymond Asna horse competition and a mountain festival.
