Nature and trails

The Voie verte départementale runs through the Ségalas district. Durban-sur-Arize also has several walking trails. In the Parc Naturel des Pyrénées Ariègeoises, nature observation, fishing, hiking and cycling are highlighted as leisure activities.

Culture and history

The church in Durban-sur-Arize contains the painting “Vierge à l'Enfant”, which was placed under protection as an object on 9 November 2006. It was painted by Gaston Lagorre around 1950 to 1960. Ten protected objects are listed in the Église Saint-Barthélémy in Durban-sur-Arize.

The two commemorative plaques on the war memorial at Serre des Monts in Durban-sur-Arize commemorate resistance fighters who were killed during the Battle of Rimont–Castelnau-Durban. The still recognisable twin tower and double ring wall of the Château de Durban-sur-Arize bear witness to a medieval defensive structure. Tours of the Château de Durban-sur-Arize are available.

Raymond de Durban was born in 1065 in Durban-sur-Arize in the Couserans. He was canonised by Pope Innocent II in 1136; his feast day is celebrated on 21 June.

The Musée Pierre Bayle is a museum in the wider regional area surrounding Durban-sur-Arize. The ruins of the Abbaye des Salenques are located in the vicinity of Durban-sur-Arize. The Abbaye de Combelongue, a church, and the Église Saint-Étienne de Mas-d'Azil, also a church, are likewise located in the surrounding area.
