Hikes and historical traces

The Tour de Sainte Catherine is a 4 km circular hike with an ascent of 245 metres. There is a car park near the Tour de Sainte Catherine; the starting point is listed as 09800 Balaguères.

At the site of the Tour Sainte Catherine, the tower, remains of the enclosure and the foundations of a former chapel belonging to the old refuge castle of Balagué have been preserved.

The Tour Sainte Catherine offers beautiful views of the Balaguères valley and the high peaks of the Castillonnais.

The Sarrat de Balagué winter circular trail passes through pastures and hamlets with barns, including some with roofs in the “pas d’oiseau” style.
