Geographical location
Wisembach lies at the foot of the Col de Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines and is a popular transit point between the Vosges and Alsace. The Blanc Rupt is formed by the confluence of the Cude and Ménaupré streams.

Culture and history
In the region surrounding Wisembach, near the Col de Sainte-Marie, stand the two crosses known as the “Croix des Suédois”. They were erected in 1704 in memory of battles fought during the Thirty Years’ War.
During the First World War, near the Croix Le Prêtre, there was a woodland chapel with a small bell tower and a large Croix de guerre on the gable, as well as a small cemetery containing the remains of several alpine troops. According to legend, the Croix Le Prêtre also commemorates the death of a priest from Wisembach who was killed by a wolf on his way to Lusse.
The Grotte Notre-Dame de Lourdes in Wisembach was associated with processions in honour of the Virgin Mary, particularly for the Feast of the Assumption. The former chapel is now the Salle Jeanne d’Arc.
Memorial sites at Côte 766
Côte 766 was a strategic point on the Vosges front from September 1914 onwards and the scene of intense fighting during the First World War. The Circuit de mémoire de la Côte 766 is a 9-kilometre loop between Lusse and Wisembach, with 21 signposted information points. Along the route are the remains of French and German installations, as well as sections of First World War trenches.
Designated routes
Circuit No. 9 “Le long de la Cude” – Le Sentier GALILEO is designated for Wisembach. The “Sur les Hauteurs de Québrux” mountain bike loop runs through woodland and hilly ridge sections and offers views towards Wisembach.
