The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste stands in the centre of the village of Lusse on a hill and can be reached via a converging staircase with two flights.
The present Saint-Jean-Baptiste church building was constructed in 1830 because the earlier church, consecrated on 24 June 1750, had become too small.
The grave cross of the George family is located in the Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrice chapel in Basse-Merlusse in Lusse. It is made of wrought iron on a pink sandstone pedestal and features geometric patterns, scrollwork and hammered floral decoration.
The cross was erected around 1859 and was probably moved when the cemetery of the church of Lusse was redesigned.
Hiking
Lusse has the designated hiking trail “Circuit pédestre - Par la Chaume de Lusse”.
The hike runs through the uplands and is marked with red circles. As a circular trail, it is 13.5 km long, has an elevation difference of 462 m and is of medium difficulty.
History
The “Sentier militaire de la Grande Guerre” is a 7 km-long trail starting at the Col de Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. Along the trail, remains of the First World War front line between Haïcot and Chaume de Lusse can be discovered.
This front line reaches an altitude of almost 1,000 m. Allow approximately three hours for the trail; a good level of physical fitness is required.
