Le Tholy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture and crafts

The Église Saint-Joseph is protected in its entirety as a French historic monument; it was listed by decree of 10 February 2014. At the same time, it was Gabriel Leire’s first work in glass slab technique in the region.

Didot Knife offers introductory blacksmithing courses in Le Tholy, where participants make their own knife under guidance. During opening hours, the Maison des artisans presents an exhibition of handicrafts and products.

Randoland Le Tholy is a family-friendly treasure hunt with age-appropriate puzzle sheets for children aged 4 to 6, 7 to 9, and 9 to 12. Participants explore historical, architectural, and natural features.

Hiking and cycling

Le Tholy has more than 55 kilometres of signposted hiking trails. The local trail network comprises nine signposted and recorded hikes ranging from 2 to 14 kilometres, as well as six mountain biking circuits from 10 to 25 kilometres. In addition, Le Tholy has more than 110 kilometres of signposted mountain biking trails for all levels of difficulty.

Circuit no. 10, “Les croix de chemin”, is fully signposted and runs along small roads, forest tracks, and paths; it can be walked with a pushchair. The Sentier du Blaireau hiking trail was created from 1993 onwards by ASPET (Association de Sauvegarde du Patrimoine et de l’Environnement du Tholy), under the guidance of the Conservatoire des Sites Lorrains.

The hike to the Trou de l’Enfer is moderately difficult, 5.8 kilometres long, has an elevation gain of 200 metres, and takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Mountain bike circuit no. 1, “Les Roches de la Moulure”, is a family-friendly route in the heights of Le Tholy. It is 22.3 kilometres long and has 670 metres of positive elevation gain.

History and regional products

Le Tholy emerged around the middle of the 16th century as a result of substantial immigration from Alsace. Cellet was a filming location for the film “Les Grandes Gueules”. The Haut Fer, a sawmill powered by a water wheel, was formerly located there.

Ferme Babel offers farm tours by reservation only and sells goat’s cheese, cow’s cheese, eggs, and honey. La Cave au Gérômé offers regional products, farm cheeses, smoked specialities from the Vosges, honey, and jams, as well as themed tastings.

The natural climbing site “Le Champ du Bois” in Le Rain Brice, Le Tholy, is freely accessible. Ferme équestre Equi’val offers children and adults, both beginners and experienced riders, rides lasting from half an hour to half a day.
