The Église de l’Assomption contains the altar and reredos of Joan of Arc, formerly dedicated to Saint Anne. The reredos bears the inscription “Sainte Anne Priez pour nous 1731”.

Culture and History

The PARCOURS LAMARCHE comprises 11 listed stops. These include the tower of the former castle, the market halls, the Place de Bellune and the Église Notre-Dame de l’assomption. The market halls of Lamarche were completed in 1869. The Place de Bellune commemorates Claude-Victor Perrin, Duke of Bellune, who was born in Lamarche in 1764.

The Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption dates from the 13th century, was altered and extended in the 16th and 17th centuries, and is classified as a historic monument. It also contains an organ by Nicolas Antoine Lété from Mirecourt. Opposite the church, a monument commemorates Colonel Renard and depicts his airship “La France”.

The Chapelle d’Aureil-Maison dates from the late 12th century and replaced an older sanctuary mentioned in 1044. The Ancienne Maison de Charité was occupied by the Sisters of Charity of Nancy in 1753.

In the immediate vicinity of Lamarche are the ruins of Morimond Abbey. In the wider region around Lamarche are the Abbaye de Droiteval as a historic site, the Abbaye de Vaux-la-Douce as a historic site and the Abbaye de Belfays as a historic site. Mont Mercure, a hill, is also located in this wider regional area.
