Deycimont: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Deycimont combines a church with remarkable sacred art and named rock formations around the village. The Sainte-Menne Church in Deycimont is dedicated to Saint Menne. Inside the church is the anonymous 18th-century oil painting on canvas “Vocation de sainte Menne”; it measures 400 × 250 cm. The painting depicts an angel appearing and placing the holy veil on Saint Menne.
Culture and History
The du Fournel site, also known as du Fourneau, towers above the village of Deycimont. It is associated with ancient fertility rites practised by farmers since the Neolithic period. A few metres north of the Fournel lies the Pierre du Sabbat. It projects over the valley and was topped by a cromlech made of standing stones; the standing stones were arranged in a circle or semicircle around a central stone.
Landscape
The rock La Roche du Fournel, also known as Tête du Fourneau, opens into a cave at its base. An opening in La Roche du Fournel facing south receives sunlight around midday.
Cycling
Mountain bike loop route no. 64 “Le Recreux” is a 10.7 km circular route of medium difficulty. In the “Chemins du Cœur des Vosges” area, it is an official route awarded by the Fédération Française de Cyclisme (FFC). At the same time, mountain bike loop route no. 64 “Le Recreux” is an easy course in the Dompierre Forest.
Access
Access to the du Fournel site includes a 1.5 km walk along a path through meadows. The access path to the du Fournel site is unpaved but usable.
