Bruyères: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

On the Avison stands Le Mirador, a 15-metre-high tower offering a 360-degree panoramic view. The Point du Jour viewpoint offers views over Bruyères.

Culture and History

The Musée Henri-Mathieu is housed in the building of the town’s former synagogue. It displays a collection of faience from the 18th and 19th centuries collected by Henri Mathieu, as well as reproductions of works by the artist Jean Lurçat. The museum offers guided tours for groups upon request through the tourist office.

The Chapelle de la Roche is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and built into the rocks on the northern slope of the Avison. Only the remains of the fortress survive from the Château de Bruyères, allowing for a rudimentary reconstruction.

Paths and Nature

The Parcours des Fourmis is a four-kilometre hiking trail in the Montagne de l’Helledraye. The trail features information boards about the local natural environment, as well as large ant figures made of wood, resin or metal.

A hiking trail of approximately seven kilometres leads to the Roches de Pointhaie. The rocks are equipped with iron rings for climbing. After an ascent of around 20 minutes and a few additional steps, the Circuit de l’Avison reaches the Mirador.

The Étangs de Pointhaie are a walking and recreation area around the ponds. In addition, the Piscine Bruyères is an indoor swimming pool whose roof can be opened in summer.
