Basse-Sur-Le-Rupt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Landscape

The ZNIEFF to which Basse-sur-le-Rupt belongs includes the Forêt domaniale de Noiregoutte state forest, with forest and wetland habitats partly shaped by glacial depressions. The zone to which Basse-sur-le-Rupt belongs is also designated as a Natura 2000 site and includes several listed sensitive natural areas, including the Tourbière du Champatre.

La Pierre des 4 Communes lies at an altitude of 1,060 metres and offers panoramic views over the valleys of the Rupt and La Moselotte. The site can be reached via signposted paths and is suitable for family walks and trips into nature.

Haut du Roc is a 1,013-metre-high rocky summit on a granite massif covered with sandstone and erratic boulders, overlooking the Rupt valley. It is also a classified natural site and the highest point where Vosges sandstone occurs. The Hauts de Presles sector is also known as “la petite Suisse” because of its open and preserved landscapes.

Paths and Nature

The Circuit des points de vue La Burotte runs through the forest of the Haut du Roc massif and offers numerous views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The Chaume de la Piquante Pierre is a protected high-altitude pasture managed by the Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels de Lorraine and accessible from the Col de Menufosse. The Boucle des 3 cols also passes over the Col de la Croix des Moinats. The summit of Haut du Roc can be reached on foot in 35 minutes.

Culture and History

The former granite works preserves the remains of a wire stone saw, a horizontal frame stone saw, and a turbine that powered these machines. The cultural trail from the Chapelle Saint-Del de Gerbamont to the Église Saint-Nicolas de Planois presents the history of the Maquis de la Piquante-Pierre and the surrounding villages.

The Atelier de Planois in Planois, a hamlet of Basse-sur-le-Rupt, is a small workshop with an exhibition and sales area for toys, home accessories, and turned wooden objects made from local wood. During the school holidays, the Atelier de Planois organises tours with demonstrations of fretwork.

The Monument aux goums marocains at the Col de la Croix des Moinats commemorates the Moroccan Goums, who particularly distinguished themselves during the Second World War between 1942 and 1945. The monument is a site of military history that can be visited individually as part of self-guided visits. Traditionally, a ceremony honouring the Moroccan Goums takes place on 8 May at the national monument at the Croix des Moinats in Basse-sur-le-Rupt.
