Culture and history

The “Ecole primaire publique” in Vantoux is a school prototype designed in 1950 by Henri and Jean Prouvé for a competition organised by the French Ministry of Education. It was listed as a historic monument by decree of 5 February 2001. The former school in Vantoux was open to visitors annually during the Heritage Days.

The former synagogue of Vantoux was built in 1777 and has been preserved as a residential building in the village. The Saint-Barthélemy Chapel in Vantoux dates from the 11th century. The 16th-century Jewish cemetery in Vantoux is still visible. When descending towards Vantoux, walkers can see the small Jewish cemetery.

The Ruisseau de Vallières stream runs through Vantoux. The former vineyards in Vantoux were converted into orchards.
