Culture and History

The centre of Saint-Julien-lès-Metz was rebuilt in 1733 on slopes planted with vines. The present-day Saint-Julien-lès-Metz church was inaugurated in 1966.

Construction of Fort de Saint-Julien began in 1867; the military structure was completed during the annexation. Fort de Saint-Julien was used during the Second World War and saw its baptism of fire at the end of 1944 during the Battle of Metz. Today, Fort de Saint-Julien houses a restaurant near the leisure centre.

From Saint-Julien-lès-Metz, there are viewpoints overlooking the city of Metz to the southwest. To the south, the views extend to the Vallières stream and the wooded hill of Bellecroix.
