Rosbruck is a French border village on the edge of the large Warndt Forest. The ancient Roman road from Metz to Worms ran through the village, crossing the Rosselle along the way.

Those who choose Rosbruck as a travel destination want to find a holiday apartment.

Culture and History

The medieval Saint Hubert Chapel in Rosbruck was built by the Lords of Varsberg and has been documented since the 14th century. The historic chapel was destroyed in 1940.

Rosbruck’s newer war memorial was erected in 1988 between the town hall and the church. Its composition, consisting of four statues, addresses the severity of war and the state of despair of people who have had everything taken from them. In 2020, the memorial was moved near the large cedar between the town hall and the church; a plaque bearing the inscription “Aux enfants de Rosbruck morts pour la Paix” was installed there.

The Peace Stele was erected on 4 July 1998 along the RD 603 at the border between Rosbruck and Naßweiler. The six-metre-high monolith, weighing 7.5 tonnes, is made of Vosges sandstone. A dove is cut out of the stele; above it, two children represent the youth of France and Germany.

The Uhlan Grave commemorates six Uhlans who were killed at Hochfels on 7 August 1870 during the Battle of Rosbruck. The grave was restored in June 2017. In October 2017, a new cross corresponding to the original design and a marble commemorative plaque were added.
