History

Racrange was first mentioned in 926 under the name RACHERINGA; at that time, it was a clearing village owned by Saint Arnould Abbey in Metz. In the Middle Ages, the lands of Racrange were successively transferred to several religious institutions, including Saint-Pierre Abbey of Metz, the Templars, Saint-Martin de Glandières Abbey, and the Teutonic Order.

In the 14th century, Racrange became part of the property of the Count of Salm. During the First World War, eighteen young people from Racrange died. In June 1940, the German army occupied Racrange. On November 15, 1944, American troops liberated Racrange.
