Nature
Mouterhouse is one of the six municipalities included in the Rochers et tourbières du Pays de Bitche nature reserve. The nature reserve consists of 26 separate areas and lies entirely within the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park. It includes peatland complexes, often associated with ponds, wet forests and rock bands made of Vosges sandstone. It also protects pink sandstone cliffs where peregrine falcons breed.

Trails
Le sentier des grottes is a 7 km circular trail that passes through Lemberg and Mouterhouse. The trail follows forest paths past springs, caves and several Gallo-Roman remains. The caves along the circular trail include Krippenfelsen, Chorfelsen and Hasslingerfelsen.
Culture
The parish church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur was built under the administration of Canon Manges on Langenberg to replace the forge chapel, which had become too small. It had been rebuilt in 1763–1764 at the “gros marteau”.
The Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde Chapel is located at the entrance to Mouterhouse when arriving from Lemberg. It is a simple Gothic chapel with a sundial on its façade. Its altar features a statue carved from a single lime tree trunk in the early 18th century.
Water and Season
The Mouterhouse fishing pond is open from the beginning of March to mid-November. A fishing permit, available locally, is required for fishing; swimming in the fishing pond is prohibited. The water contains trout, pike, perch, roach, catfish and carp.
The vélorail route runs for 7 km from Bitche to level crossing 71 in the Mouterhouse forest. The vélorail tour is only possible during the summer season and takes about an hour in the Mouterhouse forest.
