Neuves-Maisons: holiday apartments and houses

Culture

The association of former miners AMO (Atelier de Mémoire Ouvrière) is restoring part of the galleries of the Mine du Val de Fer in order to convert them into a museum. During a guided tour of the Zublin-Erzspeicher, visitors enter an industrial building that was formerly used to sort the ore before it was shipped to the plant.

The Fêtes du Fer take place every year on the occasion of the European Heritage Days at the Mine du Val de Fer mining site. The programme includes performances, music, activities and tours.

History

The Circuit découverte de Neuves-Maisons takes one hour and is approximately 2 km long. The Église Saint Antoine de Padoue is its first stop. The church was built in two phases: from 1905 to 1908 and from 1929 to 1933. The Prieuré bénédictin Sainte-Lucie is the eleventh stop on the Circuit découverte de Neuves-Maisons.

The entrances to the Mine du Val de Fer are located on the edge of the Forêt de Haye.

Activities

The Néodomienne Cyclo offers a 67-kilometre discovery ride on an open course for participants aged 16 and over; all types of bicycles, including e-bikes, are permitted.
