Nature
Puy Turlau is a characteristic witness hill with steep slopes and a flat summit plateau. Its slopes are predominantly forested, while extensive clearings remain on the southern slope.
The Way of the Cross at Puy Turlau leads up a challenging, rocky ascent to a Calvary on the summit, from which a panorama can be enjoyed. The circular trail “Autour du Puy Turlau” starts at a car park on the road to Puy Turlau in Végennes, is marked in yellow, and is included in the PDIPR. It is designated as a moderately difficult hike with a length of 6.4 km and a stated duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Culture
In the village of Le Breuil, there is a bread oven that apparently dates back to the Napoleonic era. After a storm in 2008 damaged part of its side wall, the structure was restored; the restoration was completed in August 2011.
Whenever possible, the association continues the tradition and holds a bread festival in August. Among other things, farmhouse bread baked in the oven is sampled there.
Local
VG Noix in Végennes produces artisanal products made from walnuts and sells them through a short supply chain directly from producer to consumer. Its award-winning products include walnut oil, walnut kernels, and walnut flour.
Vignes et Vergers de Corrèze offers guided tours of the facilities at the farm in Végennes, including a tasting. These take place on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. from June 16 to September 15. There is also a car park and a facility for accommodating motorhomes.
