The Church of Saint-Julien dates back to the 12th century and is built of red sandstone. It contains two Romanesque capitals from the 12th century, a small gilded wooden altarpiece from the Counter-Reformation period in the 17th century, and the base of a 14th-century cross depicting the three estates – those who pray, those who fight and those who work. History
From the 12th century until the beginning of the 14th century, Templars lived at the Commanderie de Mons in Varetz, followed by Hospitallers until the French Revolution. The Commanderie de Mons stands on a hill above the Vézère. The private Commanderie de Mons in Varetz was opened to visitors as part of special open days.
