Culture
The Château de Pierrefitte is located in Sarroux, in the Corrèze département. Its main construction phases date from the 13th and 15th centuries; since 19 March 1927, the château has been protected as a historic monument.
The Église Saint-Barthélemy de Sarroux, a predominantly Romanesque church dating from the 13th century, is also part of the village’s history. It was restored in 2004 and houses old frescoes above the choir.
Nature
The “Un air de montagne” hiking route is a difficult 17 km trail with a duration of 4 hours 30 minutes, as well as 410 m of positive and negative elevation gain respectively. It leads to the Puy de Bort, which, at 859 m, is considered the highest point in the municipality. The route is classified under the themes of culture and nature, including fauna and flora, passes by the Monts du Cantal and the Massif du Sancy, and returns to Sarroux via country roads.
From the Site de la Pyramide viewpoint, the view extends across Lac de Bort, as far as Château de Val in the distance, and over the Plateau de Millevaches.
The Site de Saint-Nazaire is located in the host municipality of Sarroux-Saint-Julien at an altitude of 575 m, at the confluence of the Dordogne and Diège rivers, on the edge of the Haute-Dordogne gorges. The interpretation trail at the Site de Saint-Nazaire is an easy 1.5 km route with a duration of 1 hour 15 minutes.
Water
In the host municipality of Sarroux-Saint-Julien, the Club nautique Outre-Val provides access to 1,000 ha of navigable water for all water sports and fishing.
The Club nautique Outre-Val has boat moorings, rents out berths, provides a boat-launching facility, and has a fuel pump. Registration is required to reserve berths.
