Meilhards: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The church of Meilhards dates from the late 13th or 14th century; inside it is the tomb of the Meillars family.

The original Château de Meilhards was partially destroyed by a fire in 1781. A surrounding wall, two entrance portals, service buildings, and vaulted rooms have been preserved. In the hamlet of Le Burg, the Maison du Juge was a courthouse. In 1790, Meilhards became the main town of a canton. Visitors can also admire exceptional lintels in the Maison du Juge.

Culture and history

The spring was considered suitable for alleviating rheumatism and various other ailments. The chapel was built to Christianize the pagan veneration of the spring.

Nature

The Étang de la Besse is a municipal pond covering an area of 4 hectares. Since 2023, it has featured an educational trail and a circular path with a large footbridge. The Étang de la Besse is also designated for fishing.

Crafts and local offerings

Atelier Vitrail Tiffany offers a guided, hands-on introduction to the Tiffany stained-glass technique. Visitors create a small work from colored glass by cutting, assembling, and mounting it.

Ferme du Malauzieux welcomes visitors on Friday mornings and at lunchtime for a snack at the farm. At the Foire de Meilhards, there are numerous stalls offering regional products, fruit, vegetables, and handicrafts.
