The Roc de Maille hike near Le Pescher is an easy 7.7 km route. History and Water Management
The former Château du Pescher was demolished, but its moats have been preserved. Above the village, the Digue du Breuil diverts water from the Eyrignoux stream to supply the moats of the former castle. A channel branching off from the castle moats carried water to a grain mill and a walnut oil mill.
The Château du Pescher was a judicial fief of Turenne; it is mentioned in connection with the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. According to oral tradition, the “Croix du Moulin” is considered a memorial stele. It is said to commemorate the victory of Edme de Saint Chamans and his allies over his brother Pierre de Saint Chamans.
