The Clocher de Donzenac is a Gothic bell tower dating from the 13th century and is listed as a historic monument. The Puy Broch, also known as Puy Supérieur, forms part of Donzenac’s northern rampart; a recognisable covered defensive walkway is still present there.

The Chapelle Saint-Michel dates from the 13th century. The surrounding wall of the old cemetery is partly built from sarcophagi. The Chapelle de la Confrérie des pénitents Blancs was built in 1677 over the remains of the former armoury of the Château de la Robertie.

The Château des barons de Donzenac has a Renaissance-restored façade and may be the oldest residential building in the town. The Maison du XIIIe siècle is considered the oldest house in the Limousin.

Walking Tours and Sightseeing

On the signs along the Circuit patrimoine, QR codes at points A to R make it easier to find your way between the sights and provide additional text and audio content. Donzenac’s medieval town can be visited freely; guided tours are available by appointment only.

Donzenac has four marked circular routes that explore the town and its surroundings. The local Donzenac countryside also offers geocaching treasure hunts.

Les Pans de Travassac houses a small museum in an underground gallery and offers guided tours. Traditional slate-working techniques and craft expertise passed down since the 17th century are presented there.

Geographical Location

Donzenac is located at the junction of the A20 and A89 motorways. In partnership with Agglo de Brive, the municipality of Donzenac provides electric bicycles for rent for work and leisure journeys.
