Aumont-Aubrac is an important stage of the GR®65. The official circular route “Tour des Monts d’Aubrac” begins here and is 180 km long. The hiking trails starting from Aumont-Aubrac also include the 15-km “Les Portes de l’Aubrac” trail.

Culture

The architecture of Aumont-Aubrac spans several centuries. The Church of Saint-Étienne dates back to the 12th century.

The Aumont-Aubrac tourist office is located in a former priory dating from 1684. The former priory has a vaulted cellar. The office is housed in a three-story building featuring design elements typical of late-medieval architecture, including a large arcade on the ground floor, cross windows on the former residential floors, and massive round-arched arcades in the basement.

In the public garden of Aumont-Aubrac, the recreational area also includes facilities for children. A giant sequoia stands there and is classified as a “remarkable tree of France.” The “Truc del Fabre” site offers panoramic views over the municipality of Aumont-Aubrac.
