Vauvert: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature

At the entrance to Vauvert, the Parc des Aigrettes is a landscaped natural area on the banks of the Vistre. Its planted pools are home to a diverse range of fauna, including waterfowl, and are suitable for observing nature.

The Centre de Découverte du Scamandre organises environmental education activities for all target groups. Hiking trails lead through habitats dedicated to the protection of fauna and flora. The reception building is located in a former sheepfold and offers exhibitions, videos, documentaries and a specialist shop.

Culture and History

The Chapelle de Montcalm is a Neo-Romanesque chapel with a central layout and a dome above the crossing. Its stained-glass windows, signed by E. Didron and dating from 1886, depict the life of Saint Lazarus. Since a decree dated 31 July 2000, the chapel has been protected as a Monument historique.

The Protestant temple in Vauvert was built according to plans by the architect Charles Durand between 1811 and 1817. As a whole, it has been protected as a Monument historique by registration under a decree dated 30 January 2012.

The Tour de l’Horloge stands on the only surviving medieval gate of Vauvert’s castle fortifications. It was restored in 2025 and is now open to visitors.

Vauvert is the third stage on the Via d’Arles to Arles and Saint-Gilles.

Trails

The GR®653 passes through the centre of Vauvert. It was inaugurated in 1990, is the last of the four routes to Santiago de Compostela, and runs continuously with clear waymarking.

The signposted Voie Verte Vauvert–Gallician is an 8.16 km out-and-back route starting in Vauvert. It is open to cyclists, hikers, roller skaters and people with reduced mobility, and runs alongside the Canal Philippe Lamour for more than 5 km.

The Maison du Guide de Camargue offers hiking and cycling tours in regional or local nature reserves. Its services also include guided visits to the nature reserves of the Camargue gardoise.

Sightseeing

The Manade Sylvéréal offers tours of the grounds by small railway. The sightseeing tours include demonstrations.

Market

Vauvert’s weekly market offers olives, spices, fruit and vegetables.
