Culture and history
The Église Saint-Laurent has large arcades dating from the Romanesque period. Its nave and choir feature rib vaults. The water from the Lavoir de Saint-Laurent-la-Vernède was used to supply the nearby kitchen gardens.
In the immediate vicinity of Saint-Laurent-la-Vernède are the ruins of the Abbaye de Valsauve, dating from 1217 to 1375. The Abbaye de Valsauve, a historic site, is also located in the surrounding area. The Abbatiale de Goudargues, a monastery, is likewise located nearby. The Sentier de découverte des ocres leads through ochre cliffs on the heights of Saint-Laurent-la-Vernède and to the industrial remains of a former ochre mining site. The circular route, which is accessible to everyone, includes an actual discovery trail covering 700 metres. Including the outward and return route from the free car park, the total distance is approximately 3 kilometres.
