Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

East of Camprieu, the Bonheur stream disappears into a natural tunnel and re-emerges 700 m as the crow flies later as the Bramabiau. Above the village of Camprieu lies Lac du Bonheur, a reservoir in the municipality of Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu. At the lake, unsupervised swimming, picnics, fishing and relaxation are possible; two jetties provide wheelchair users with access to fishing.

History and culture

The Sentier des Morts preserves the name of the former route from Camprieu to the cemetery of Saint-Sauveur de Pourcils, which funeral processions used until the summer of 1872. The church of Saint-Sauveur-des-Pourcils was rebuilt after destruction in 1562, 1703 and 1848.

The ruins of the Bonahuc monastery, now called Notre Dame de Bonheur Abbey, are located in the area of the Sentier de la vallée du Bonheur. The first traverse of Bramabiau included 1,300 metres of underground passage and is now considered the founding act of modern speleology.

Hiking and nature

The Sentier de Camprieu is a very difficult 17.5 km hike lasting 6 hours, beginning at the high school in Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu. The Abîme de Bramabiau offers a very accessible visitor circuit of around 1 km, as well as an approximately one-hour guided tour along the underground Bonheur River.

The Sentier de Saint-Sauveur-des-Pourcils passes through part of the large arboretum on the Aigoual massif. The arboretum illustrates the diversity of the forest and the work carried out by foresters since the beginning of the 20th century.

Serre de Combescure, a mountain, is located in the immediate vicinity of Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu. Le Devois, Mont Redon and Le Portalet, all mountains, are also located in the surrounding area.
