Nature and Trails
The trail to Serre de Taravel begins at the Romanesque Saint-Pierre Church in Malons. The church is situated at an altitude of more than 800 metres and features intricately carved capitals, an apse, and a façade made of grey granite from the neighbouring plateau. The trail climbs to an altitude of 969 metres and offers views of Mont-Lozère and the Tanargue.
The GR44A runs through Malons. Via a 46-kilometre circular route, it provides a connection to Les Vans. The second stage of the GR® de Pays Haute Vallée de la Cèze also leads from Malons-et-Elze to Aujac; it is marked in yellow and has local signposting.
Activities
L’accro-parc comprises nine treetop courses with varying levels of difficulty and height. The Mas de l’Ayre leisure centre offers a treetop adventure course for children and adults aged two and over, as well as guided electric scooter tours.
Asinerie Badjâne offers donkey hikes at Le Blacheyral in Cessénades, Malons-et-Elze. En Forêt offers courses, workshops, training sessions and support for children and adults.
History and Culture
Château d’Elze is a historic building dating from the 14th century. The Sentier du Mas de l’Ayre is a discovery trail through the Mas de l’Ayre forest. It provides information about the cycles of forest life and the history of mining, which shaped this area for a long time.
