Jonquières-Saint-Vincent: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Chapelle Saint-Laurent is one of the few surviving buildings of its kind from the 12th century in the Gard. It was classified as a historic monument by decree of 24 December 1926.

Culture and history

The Via Domitia crosses the municipal territory of Jonquières-Saint-Vincent south of the village for a distance of around five kilometres. Another section of the Via Domitia within the municipality is listed as a historic monument. In Jonquières-Saint-Vincent, it has been preserved in its original form as an earthen path with layers of gravel and stones.

The parish church of Saint Michel houses two wooden paintings from the 16th century that are classified as historic monuments. There are also three 19th-century canvas paintings and two polychrome marble altars from the 18th and 19th centuries, which are listed as historic monuments. The Saint Vincent-de-Cannois church was built in the 12th century on the remains of a Roman altar.

The Marché Couvert was built as a covered market for table grapes and inaugurated in 1934. The site of the Marché Couvert was completely renovated in 2011. The Moulins des Aires consist of two mills built between the 17th and 18th centuries on a hill above the village. The 17th-century mill is operational and can produce flour.

Landscape

Jonquières-Saint-Vincent is surrounded by vineyards and orchards. The Balade à la fontaine de Tavie is an easy walk for families: it leads from the Chapelle Saint-Laurent to the Fontaine de Tavie through vineyards and orchards and offers a picnic area.
