A farmers’ market takes place in Générargues every Friday morning.

The Bambouseraie de Prafrance is listed as a historic monument and has been awarded the “Jardin remarquable” label.

The historic Bambouseraie de Prafrance estate includes a system of mills, canals, channels and pumping machinery, as well as the façades and roofs of the Prafrance farm.

The Church of Notre Dame de Générargues is first mentioned in 1276 in the cartulary of Notre Dame du Bonheur. In December 1702, at the beginning of the Camisard War, it was burned down by Rolland’s troops.

The Château de la Rode between the hamlets of La Rode and Le Viala is a large bourgeois residence dating from the late 17th century. A former silkworm farm dating from 1812 and a farm are adjacent to the château.

The Protestant temple of Générargues was built in 1841 in the centre of the village using fine brickwork and has an octagonal bell tower.

Silk cultivation was one of Générargues’ economic assets. Cocoon production began in the early 17th century and reached its peak in the mid-19th century. The abundance of water encouraged the establishment of several silk-spinning mills.

Since 2023, the Bambouseraie en Cévennes has offered the family treasure hunt “la quête de la fleur d'Aleya”, in which the garden is explored through observation and deduction.
