Fressac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

From the Château de Fressac, there is a view over the end of the Languedoc plain and the beginning of the Cévennes mountains. Renting a holiday apartment is one possible way to plan your stay in Fressac.

Culture

The ruins of the Château de Fressac, including the enclosing walls, were listed as a historic monument by decree of 23 September 1992. The surviving three-storey keep may date from the early 13th century.

La Maison des Synode in Fressac hosted a religious gathering in August 1715 that initiated the return of Protestant worship in France. Antoine Court convened the first synod of the Désert movement there, thereby laying the foundations for the reorganisation of underground Protestantism.

The hydraulic mill on the eastern bank of Fressac has a large reservoir. The Dolmen de la Lèque in Fressac is located on private property.

Nature

The path to the Château de Fressac leads uphill from the Les Montèzes starting point through a stand of holm oaks to the château. On the plain, the route reaches a path bordered by vineyards, while the plain along the route features meadows rich in orchids.

A steep path equipped with steps leads down to Fressac; it also crosses the route of the GR 63.

Activities

The “L'Echappée Cévenole” cycling loop passes through Fressac and connects garrigue, vineyards and chestnut groves. In Fressac, Pierre & Eau offers guided canyoning with state-certified guides for different skill levels.

On Site

La Maison des Synode in Fressac is now inhabited and cannot be visited; only a large marble commemorative plaque is located on the façade wall. The course of the Béals and the water intake of the hydraulic mill on the eastern bank of Fressac are visible; the area is next to a private house.
