Boucoiran-Et-Nozières: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

One of the village’s most distinctive structures is the Tour médiévale de Boucoiran, a medieval tower dating from the 13th century. The tower is almost 40 metres high and stands at one of the highest points in the village. It overlooks the Gardon and the road between Alès and Nîmes. The medieval tower of Boucoiran is also integrated into the castle’s enclosure.

Culture
The 17th-century grain mill in Boucoiran generates electricity with the help of a turbine. The grain and oil mill of Boucoiran is listed as a historic monument and continues to operate as a mill.
The religious buildings also reflect the history of the village: today’s Notre-Dame church is built onto Boucoiran’s old fortification walls. Notre Dame de la Nativité is a Romanesque church in the upper part of the village of Boucoiran, next to the castle. The Temple de Boucoiran was completed in 1894 and serves the Protestant communities of Boucoiran and Nozières. The chapel of Château des Calvières was set on fire by the Camisards in 1703.
History
The Porte de France is a remnant of a former village entrance dating from the 13th century. Further west lies the protohistoric Oppidum du Grand Ranc, which rises above the Gardon plain and is located 800 metres west of Boucoiran. It was listed as a historic monument by decree of 26 January 1990.
Settlement remains from the Neolithic period have been preserved at the Oppidum du Grand Ranc, including stone walls, traces of soil cultivation, wall fragments and a fired-clay hearth.

The Boucoiran Canal is lined with gardens.
Transport
Boucoiran railway halt has a car park. Nozières railway station remains in service for passenger traffic on the Cévennes railway.
