Ventenac-en-Minervois: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Pont-canal du Répudre lies on the municipal boundary between Paraza and Ventenac-en-Minervois. It is France’s first navigable aqueduct and the second-oldest, or the second, in the world. The structure is 90 metres long and has a single arch.

Landscape

Culture

The Château de Ventenac has a square tower overlooking the plain, as well as Italian-style terraced gardens. The winemakers’ cooperative of Ventenac was founded at the end of 1937; its cellar was established in 1938 in the Chai du Château de Ventenac.

La Marie-Thérèse was built in 1855, is the oldest river vessel in Europe still in operation today, and has its home port in Ventenac-en-Minervois. When it travels along the canal, visitors can board as crew members or ordinary passengers, depending on availability.

Wine and Local History

Admission and wine tasting are free at the Caveau du Château de Ventenac. There, visitors are guided through an introduction to the world of flavours of the Minervois terroir.

The “Grenier des Vignerons” presents tools, work in the vineyards, grape harvesting and winemaking. Visitors are invited to discover the history of the village and its terroir there.
