The Église Saint-Mathieu has been listed as a historic monument since 1926. It has a nave with side chapels and a pentagonal chancel, which is extended to the east by a chapel. The sanctuary, four bays of the nave and four chapels date from the 16th century.

Culture
To the east of the village stands the Donjon du château on a natural hill that was developed in the Middle Ages to defend a fortress. The surviving Donjon du château dates from the late 15th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 2003.
In the wider area surrounding Salles-sur-l'Hers, Château de Lafage is a ruin. The historic sites Abbaye de Boulbonne, Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Beaulieu and Abbaye Notre-Dame de Calers are also located in this wider regional area.
Nature and Trails
At Lac de Régambert, there is a fishing trail designated as a “Family Fishing Trail”. The circular Tour du Lac de Régambert route is 4.14 km long, takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, and starts at Place Marengo.
Salles-sur-l'Hers is one of the municipalities included in the ZNIEFF “Collines de la Piège et lac du Rieutord”. Les Crêtes de Coupadels is a 13.2 km moderate circular hike with 145 metres of elevation gain and runs very close to the centre of Salles-sur-l'Hers.
