The Porte de Narbonne is the most visible surviving relic of the formerly fortified settlement of Saint-Marcel-sur-Aude. The town’s historic centre has also been preserved.

Culture and History
La Coopé is a former winegrowers’ cooperative in Saint-Marcel-sur-Aude that has been converted into a multicultural venue. The town’s church bell is made of bronze and has been classified as a protected object since 14 April 1943.
The oldest neighbourhoods of Saint-Marcel-sur-Aude have been renovated; there are paved streets around the church. During the restoration of the former church, the fragmentarily preserved monumental mural “Un Atlante” was discovered. It has been classified as a protected object since 6 May 1975.
Surroundings
The surroundings of Saint-Marcel-sur-Aude include the Grange de Fontcalvy ruin, the Abbaye Notre Dame historic site, the Monastere Notre-Dame de Gaussan historic site, and the Abbaye Sainte-Marie des Olieux ruin.
The Mont Ségonne mountain and the Martyrs de La Resistance Garden are also located nearby. Further afield in the region are Plage des Chalets beach and the Roque Sestière peak.
Wine
Domaine du Quay is a winery in the Languedoc wine-growing region of Saint-Marcel-sur-Aude and dates back to 1886. It welcomes visitors for cellar tours and wine tastings.
With advance reservations for groups, Domaine du Quay offers wines together with olives from the estate, savoury cakes and charcuterie as part of the Tapa’soif tasting.
