Culture

Rieux-Minervois has shady old lanes with vaulted passages. The Vieux Pont de Rieux is a three-arched bridge.

The regular 14-sided interior of the Rotonde Heptagonale Sainte Marie is inscribed within a circle; a dome is supported by seven arcades resting on seven pillars.

The Romanesque capitals of the Sainte-Marie church in Rieux-Minervois were created by the Master of Cabestany. From 1 April to 31 October, the Sainte-Marie church can be visited with documentation or as part of a guided tour; reception and ticket sales take place at the Tourist Information Point next to the church, which is open from Tuesday to Saturday.

The Notre-Dame du Bout du Pont chapel was built in the 16th century following a sailor from the Noailles family’s vow and was extended in the 18th century. The château near the Argent Double was built around 1175; notable surviving features include towers, a fountain courtyard, a window and door lintels.
