Culture

The collection of the Musée du Quercorb presents nine medieval musical instruments reconstructed from the sculptures of the musicians in the Château de Puivert. Visual and acoustic displays there introduce everyday life in the Quercorb at the beginning of the 20th century; during the season, the Musée du Quercorb offers guided tours with storytelling and singing. The Sentier des Troubadours connects the Musée du Quercorb with the Château de Puivert.

Nature

Lac de Fontclaire forms a remarkable landscape of mountains and water overlooking the Château de Puivert. Swimming in Lac de Fontclaire is supervised from 1 July to 31 August. Fishing is permitted on the shore next to the refreshment bar and is managed by the La Gaule Puivertaine association; it is possible from March to September in accordance with the annual fishing-season opening calendar. In summer, a night market is held at Lac de Fontclaire every Wednesday evening, where local producers and craftspeople offer regional specialities.

Things to Do

The Maquis de Picaussel route begins in the hamlet of Lescale in Puivert, at the car park behind the chapel, and leads along a challenging trail from Lescale to a cave, viewpoints and the former post of the Maquis resistance fighters.

The Planeurs de Puivert offer introductory gliding flights in summer. The Sentier Cathare includes the Château de Puivert along its shared section through the Pyrénées Audoises and offers more than 150 kilometres of hiking trails in total.
