Water, Canal and Trails
The Eaurizon water sports centre in Puichéric offers canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. On the Aude in Puichéric, Eaurizon offers canoe and kayak trips either independently or accompanied by state-certified guides.
The stone bridge between the two locks of Puichéric is the point on the canal closest to the village. The Écluse de l’Aiguille, a double lock on the Canal du Midi, is also located in Puichéric. Wooden sculptures at the aqueduct or at the Écluse de l’Aiguille lock welcome travellers to the Canal du Midi.
The Chemin Vert between Puichéric and Caunes-Minervois can also be travelled by bicycle.
Culture and History
The Notre-Dame church in Puichéric is listed in the supplementary inventory of France’s historic monuments. Its choir wall paintings are classified as protected or listed cultural heritage. The church can be visited by prior appointment.
Inside, Notre-Dame has an altar table made of Caunes marble from the 17th century. The frescoes at the end of the choir depict scenes from the Passion of Christ and from the life of Mary.
The Château de Puichéric was listed in its entirety as a historic monument by decree of 8 November 2013. The château includes a 13th-century tower as well as 17th-century frescoes and painted ceilings.
