Culture and history

The Dolmen des Fades features construction phases dating from the Chalcolithic and Bronze Age. It is located at the Mourel de la fados in the municipality of Pépieux. The megalithic gallery is 24 metres long and lies within a tumulus approximately 35 metres long. The dolmen can be reached via hiking trails and is suitable for a walk in nature.

The Église Saint-Étienne was built in the 14th century in a single construction phase, following the Languedoc architectural style. It has a very wide single-nave layout with chapels between the buttresses, as well as a vaulted choir and vaulted apsidioles opening onto the nave. The church has been classified as a historic monument since 1927.

The former seigneurial chapel on the Plô was fully registered as a historic monument on 19 March 1942.

Wine and regional products

Château Massamier La Mignarde offers guided vineyard tours with the winegrower. During the tour, the soil, climate and cultivation techniques are explained. The experience also includes a tasting of the estate's wines in the historic 18th-century cellar building. Jams, grape juice and olive oil produced at the estate are also sold there.

Nature and trails

The Chemin des vignes de Pépieux is a very easy, four-kilometre circular route. It can be walked or cycled and is also suitable for children.

Collections

The Musée des Fossiles et des Minéraux displays almost 300 fossil specimens from the past 550 million years of Earth's history. The mineral collection comprises almost 200 exhibits and is considered one of the region's most representative collections due to its shapes and colours.

Water

At Lac de Jouarres, there is a water sports centre with a sailing school, as well as opportunities to rent boats, stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats and canoes or kayaks. Lac de Jouarres is located approximately 2 kilometres from the Canal du Midi.
