Culture and history

The parish church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul in Montferrand houses a collection of 13 Gothic stone stelae and fragments of stelae originating from a cemetery and dating from the 13th or possibly the 14th century. The collection has been classified as a protected object since 11 May 1977.

The Peyre Clouque archaeological site preserves the remains of ancient thermal baths, two early Christian churches and a necropolis.

In the wider region surrounding Montferrand, the Château de Lafage is a ruin. The Abbaye de Boulbonne, the Abbaye Royale de la Rode and the Abbaye de Villelongue are historic sites there.

Hiking and cycling

The “Balade au seuil de Naurouze” hike begins at the Seuil de Naurouze car park and follows the D218 road in a southwesterly direction to the former mill of Naurouze.

The first stage of the Véloccitanie route from the Seuil de Naurouze leads by bicycle along the hydraulic structures of the Canal du Midi and is approximately 50 kilometres long.
