Leuc: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Culture
Of the Château de Leuc, the southwestern half of the former rectangular layout and three towers, including the keep, have survived. The château stands on a hill and historically controlled the road from Carcassonne to Saint-Hilaire at the point where the valley narrows considerably.
The history of the village also includes the excavations carried out in the 19th century, during which graves from the Carolingian period were uncovered in Leuc. Some grave goods are on display at the Musée des Antiquités nationales. The Église Saint-Pierre de Leuc is first documented in a deed dating from 1115.
Nature
There are almost 40 kilometres of signposted paths in the municipality of Leuc. They offer views of the Pyrenees and the Montagne Noire. Leuc also has vineyard huts to discover.
The Domaine de Fraisse covers 140 hectares of woodland, meadows and agricultural land, managed according to the principles of agroecology. Its equestrian centre offers riding lessons as well as horseback rides and treks. It also provides horse-assisted activities adapted for people with disabilities and for people with autism or DYS.
Food and wine
The Domaine Saint Martin produces seven red, white and rosé cuvées under the designations IGP Cité de Carcassonne and IGP Pays d’Oc. Artisanally produced olive oil is also made on site. Upon prior reservation, the domaine offers individually tailored wine tastings for individuals or groups.
Those who choose Leuc as a holiday destination want to rent a holiday apartment here.
