Le Bousquet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Le Bousquet lies at the foot of the Massif de Madres. The Massif de Madres is the highest point in the Aude département. Those who choose Le Bousquet for their stay may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.

Hiking and Trails

Numerous walks and hikes begin in Le Bousquet and can be enjoyed on foot, on horseback, by mountain bike, on snowshoes and on cross-country skis. The Chemin Vieux hiking trail connects Sainte-Colombe-sur-Guette, Roquefort-de-Sault, Le Bousquet and Escouloubre.

The Casteldos–Flanzy hike begins in Le Bousquet. It is approximately 14 km long and marked in yellow. Its route alternates between grassy meadows with unobstructed views and a path winding through deciduous and coniferous forest.

The Tour du Casteldos route follows yellow trail markers to the Col du Garabeil, passing around the Roc du Casteldos. It offers views of the Pyrenees.

Landscape

Casteldos is a 1,430-metre-high rocky promontory overlooking Le Bousquet.

Starting Points

The Chemin de la Plane connects the Col du Garabeil on the D17 with the de la Plane car park. There is a picnic area, information boards and the starting points of hiking trails. The Chemin de la Plane continues as a track to managed forests and mountain refuges.

The Chemin du Counc runs from the D17 to the Col du Counc, providing access to the Tour du Casteldos and forest tracks. Its lower section includes a car park for hikers.

Culture and Traces of the Past

The ruins of the ancient fortifications of Eskolobris are still visible on Casteldos. Below the forest path to the Cabane Lambert, an old lime kiln can be found after the Col de la Malaïrède.

The lower section of the Chemin Vieux runs near the ruins of Monplaisir. During hikes around Le Bousquet, old royal boundary stones and numerous dry-stone walls marking the boundaries of agricultural properties may be seen.
